At what point does a edition cease having anything to do with the original album? It’s one of the latest hip-hop conundrums to stump philosophers, to the point where fans have come to expect a two-for-one deal every time a rapper drops a project. For better or worse, editions have begun emerging as full-fledged albums, which all too often end up stealing shine from the original. In any case, the format is here to stay, and artists are starting to get creative with it.

Take , who has been steadily gearing up to deliver his brand new single “Dreamer” on Friday. With Akademiks having already teased some premium material from the young melodist’s upcoming album , Trippie took to IG Live to stoke the hype even further. “What the fuck I’m doing is dropping ,” he declares. “And the is going to be the . While we don’t know much else about the  , the fact that it’s set to be a “rock” album is intriguing in itself. It seems as if many rappers have been toying with the idea of branching into rock music, with G-Eazy and Machine Gun Kelly being two of the prominent rappers to make the foray in recent memory. Of course, we have yet to see how Trippie will reimagine  under a rock-focused lens, but we have faith that the rapper will make it work — do you think trying his hand at rock music is a wise move for Trippie?
